For the 2nd consecutive season, both Wildcat basketball teams have earned WSC South
titles.
The West LA men's team (20-8) travels to Cerritos College on Friday night for a 7 o'clock clash against the
Falcons. WSC South Coach of the year, Anthony Jones leads his troops with plenty of firepower as WEST
looks to compete for the a State Championship.
Mark Carter, the conference Player of the Year, has just agreed to continue his career at Concordia University in Oregon.
Other Wildcat notables, Terrell Waiters and Derrick Woods were named 1st team all conference.
Dwight Murray and Jeremy Hamilton were recognized as honorable mention honorees.
For Women's Head Coach Twan Herron winning a 2nd consecutive title is both rewarding and a result of
commitment and dedication. Herron's leadership helped in the career of Andrina Villela. Villella was named
the Western State Conference (South) Player of the Year. Villela came up big for WEST during the WSC-South Championship game.
The former Carson HS product poured in 32 points against College of the Canyons, 23 of those points came in the 2nd half.
Villela joins, Bri Anugwom as WEST second consecutive conference Player of the Year in a row. Anugwom, is now in her sophomore season
starring at Division I, UCSB. Villela didn't leave her teammates behind in the accolades. Sophomores Heyavin Johnson,
Ihana Aiono, Andrea Riley and freshman guard Tricia Delph; were also recognized as 1st team selections. Freshman
guard Lauren Jones was recognized as an honorable mention selection. WEST had its starting five selected as
all conference selections.
The Wildcat Women (21-8) hit the road for a Friday night road match up, as well. Herron's Wildcats will head to
San Jacinto College. Game time is 7 pm.
