Culver City, CA. | The West LA College football team had two offensive standouts named to the SCFA American Metro League, with another six players named to the second-team. |
| The Wildcats offense had members named to the first-team: QB Devon Shay and UT Markell White. White was a unanimous selection. Shay led the conference in completion percentage by completing 65.3% of his passes. The freshman from Vernonia, Oregon also ranked fourth in passing yards (164.0). Shay took over for Markell White under center and finished with a 124.8 effeciency rating, good enough for 3rd in the conference. |
| The title Utility player must've been created for Markell White. The former Fairfax HS star led the offense as the team's quarterback and in mid-season made the transition to defense. When the Wildcats reached the Red Zone, White was the go to man. White's 12 touchdown were the highest total in the conference. Even in part time duty, White finished 10th in rushing, with a 4.2 yards per carry average. |
| Four Wildcats were recognized as outstanding performers in 2018 and were named to the SCFA's American Metro's 2nd team. The anchor of the offensive line for West LA in 2018 was Chase LaBlanc. At 6'7 and 300 pounds, LaBlanc is already showing players and recruiters alike; that he's a major prospect. |
| Joining LeBlanc is wide reciever Vincent Rankin. The 6'2 sophomore from Hamilton HS in Los Angeles, finished tenth in receptions and led all West LA wideouts with 4 touchdowns. Rankin's 379 yards, also led all West recievers in 2018. |
| J.J. Liavaa proved to be the man in the middle. Lavaa often clogged the middle of the line, making it extremely difficult for opposing offenses to get their running game going. Liavaa finshed fifth in sacks, during conference play. |
| Justin Mason gets it's done in the classroom and on the field. Mason has had a successful sophomore season at West, being recognized as one of the leagues top cornerbacks. Of the six cornerbacks recognized this season, 5 were sophomores. Mason made the most of his lone interception versus Santa Ana. Justin picked off the pass and ran it back 60 yards for the touchdown. |
| If you attended a Wildcat football game this season, there's a good chance you saw #62 causing havoc. Kameren McNeal quickly made the transition to the next level. McNeal's 4 sacks led the team in this catagory and tackles for loss. McNeal was also tied for 2nd on the team, with 45 knockdowns on the season. |
| Being a freshman, never seemed to both Steven Ashby. Ashby started at safety and made his presence known as a hard hitter. Ashby led the conference in total tackles for the season, as well as, finishing 2nd in tackles per game. |
