San Luis Obispo, CA.|With the October 19th Western State conference men's and women's cross country championships looming, teams descended on the Fairbanks Cross Country Course to get a glimpse of the competition and view next year's championship course hosted by Cuesta College.

The Wildcats cross country teams had solid performances by both the men's and women's teams with 4th and 10th place team finishes in what is the largest cross country conference in the United States with 15 schools.  The Wildcats were led by sophomore Baltazar Bucup who finished in 6th place.  Armando Lozano and Raul Lopez placed 15th and 22nd in challenging 4-mile course. West LA's women's squad was led by freshman Maya Richardson who ran to a 13th place finish in 21:11 for the 5k distance.

WSC teams will run in various meets the next 2 weeks leading up to the Western State Championships at Bonelli Park in San Dimas in 3 weeks to determine conference champions.  The Wildcats compete at Moorpark College next Friday.
