Wildcats have taken small steps to improve.
The Wildcats entered their tournament 0-1. After three games, they picked up two wins over Palo Verde College 76-36 and College of the Desert 68-39, before falling to a long and athletic Victor Valley 66-60 in a back and forth strategic game.
In the Palo Verde game West LA got off to a fast start winning the first two quarters 23-12 and 23-6 and went into halftime with a 46-18 lead. Alana Young led the way in the 1st half shooting 4-5 from the 3pt line.
Coming out of the half the young Wildcats cooled off shooting only 22.% from the 2 point FG range and 25% from beyond the arc. Nevertheless, they clawed back in the 4th. Team leaders were Alana Young 18 pts, 6 rbd, 3 steals. Cheyanne Whitfield 17 pts., 13 rbd, 2 steals.
