SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA PLAYOFFS BRACKET

The postseason run towards a state championship for the West Los Angeles College men's basketball team will begin later this week. On Sunday, the Wildcats were named the No. 5 seed for the upcoming Southern California Regional Playoffs.

As a top-8 seed, West LA received a bye in the opening round and will host the winner of either No. 12 East Los Angeles College and No. 21 San Diego Miramar College in a second-round game on Saturday, March 2 at 7 p.m. Ticket prices for the California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A) postseason game are $12 for general admission and $8 for all identified students, faculty, staff, senior citizens age 60 and over, and children under 12 years old.

Under the direction of head coach Anthony Jones, the Wildcats recently wrapped up their fourth Western State Conference South Division championship over the past six seasons. West LA enters the playoffs with an impressive 24-4 overall record and went 12-2 in the Western State South to finish tied for first place with Citrus College.

The Wildcats are making their sixth straight postseason appearance. Last season, West LA suffered an opening-round loss to Allan Hancock College. The Wildcats look to return to the state championship tournament after reaching the state semifinals during the 2021-22 season.

No. 12 East Los Angeles brings a 20-8 overall record into its playoff contest at home against No. 21 San Diego Miramar on Wednesday (Feb. 28). East Los Angeles finished tied for second place in the South Coast Conference North Division at 7-3. San Diego Miramar is 17-11 and was third in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference with a 12-4 mark.

Two wins are needed by the Wildcats to advance to the 3C2A State Championships on March 15-17 at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.
