GLENDORA --- Lauren Lee scored a team-high 16 points to lead West Los Angeles College in a 69-58 loss at Citrus College on Saturday.
After a solid first quarter, the Wildcats went cold and trailed Citrus 31-14 at halftime. But West LA responded by outscoring the Owls 19-6 in the third to get back into the game and trail by just four points, 37-33, heading into the final quarter.
Lee nailed a three-pointer with 8:40 to play that cut Citrus' lead to three at 40-37, but the Wildcats would get no closer. Lee hit another three-point shot with two minutes left to get the Wildcats within five points (54-49) but Citrus followed that with a 9-1 run to put the game out of reach.
Taniya Simmons put together a solid game with 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists. Xyamiyia Miller grabbed 11 rebounds and Angel Morris contributed 6 points and 10 rebounds.
With the loss, the Wildcats dropped to 7-14 overall and 2-7 in Western State Conference South Division play. West LA returns to action on Wednesday (Feb .9) when it hosts Los Angeles Valley College in a 7 p.m. game.
