The athletic department at West also promotes academic excellence and celebrates the academic success of our student athletes by honoring scholar athletes who graduate with an associate degree or certificate, as well as those who attain a 3.0 grade point average and complete at least 12 units each semester. The department has established a "Scholar Athlete of The Month" and the "Student Athlete Of The Year" awards in an effort to promote academic and athletic excellence amongst the student athletes at West.  Finally, there are additional opportunities for our student athletes to be nominated and honored for their efforts through various conference and state associations such as the California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A), the Western State Conference and the Southern California Football Association.
