Derrick Woods has been selected by the West Los Angeles College Athletic Department, as our male Scholar Athlete for the month of February 2019. |
| Derrick graduated from Stratford High School located in Nashville, TN in 2015. He is a member of the West LA Men’s Basketball Team. Derrick has received an All-Tournament Award this past season, and has earned 1st Team All-Conference for the 2018-2019 season. Derrick is a Criminal Justice major who plans to transfer with an athletic scholarship to an HBCU. |
| His son has been his biggest influence in his life; he pushes Derrick to go harder every single day. Another person who has been a big influence in Derrick’s life has been, Coach Jones. He states that he is not just a coach; he is somebody that also cares for others. His advice to other West LA Student-Athletes is, “never give up on your dreams, and create your own path in life.” |
