Scholar Athlete of the Month | October 2018

Men's Cross Country

Armando Lozano has been selected by the West Los Angeles College Athletic Department, as our male Scholar Athlete for the month of October 2018. Armando graduated from Dorsey High School in 2017. He is a member of the West LA Men’s Cross Country/Track & Field Teams. Armando has received Western State All-Conference First Team for Track & Field. He has qualified for the State Championships in Cross Country this season. Armando is an Administration of Justice major who plans to transfer out of state with an athletic scholarship. He has a 3.24 GPA, and is a member of the West LA Gold Team. An influence in Armando’s life is his grandfather, he states that his grandfather is always telling him stories that involve life lessons, as well as pushing Armando to do better things in education, family, and in his athletics. His advice to other West LA Student-Athletes is, “working hard and being determined on personal goals are important. It does not hurt to dream because we do not know if those dreams will come true or not. It is always important to look forward, and not back, try to attempt taking a step forward instead of taking two steps backwards. There will be days where we perform bad, however, don’t beat yourself up for it, because the next occasion you can prove to yourself that you can do better.”
