Scholar Athlete of the Month | September 2018

Football

Justin Mason has been selected by the West Los Angeles College Athletic Department, as our male Scholar Athlete for the month of October 2018. Justin graduated from Palisades High School in 2016. He is a member of the West LA Football Team, and one of our Team Captains. Some of his accomplishments on the field this season has been, a retuned blocked kick for a touchdown, and he averages 30 tackles for the season. Justin is a Philosophy major who plans to transfer to SJSU, with a 3.66 overall GPA. An influence in Justin’s life is God, he states that so many moments he thought were dark, and the end of his athletic career, actually shaped him into the young man he is today, and he is forever grateful.  His advice to other West LA Student-Athletes is, “bring your best self into every space you enter, and to make what’s important to you as a student-athlete a priority.”
