West LA named No. 2 seed for SoCal Playoffs, earns 8 All-WSC postseason awards

The postseason run for the West Los Angeles College men's basketball team officially begins this week as the Wildcats were named the No. 2 seed for the upcoming Southern California Regional Playoffs. West LA will host either No. 15 San Diego Miramar College or No. 18 Saddleback College in a Round 2 game on Thursday, March 3 at 7:00 p.m.

Ticket prices for the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) postseason game at "The Den" at West LA are $12 for general admission and $8 for all identified students, faculty, staff, senior citizens age 60 and over, and children under 12 years old.

The Wildcats surge into the playoffs having won 17 straight games. Under head coach Anthony Jones, West LA enters the postseason with an impressive 23-5 overall record. The Wildcats recently wrapped up their third Western State Conference South Division championship over the past four seasons with a perfect 14-0 mark.

In its last postseason appearance during the 20-19-20 season, West LA advanced to the second round of the Southern California playoffs.

San Diego Miramar is 18-10 overall heading into the playoffs and finished tied for second place in the Pacific Coast Conference standings at 10-6. Saddleback closed out the regular season at 17-11 and tied for fourth place in the Orange Empire Conference with a 9-7 record.

The winner of Thursday's game will advance to Round 3 to face either No. 7 East Los Angeles College (24-4) or No. 10 Cerritos College (17-10) on Saturday, March 5. Two wins are needed by the Wildcats to advance to the CCCAA Basketball State Championships on March 11-13 at West Hills College Lemoore.
