Men’s Cross-Country Races to 3rd Place Finish at Ventura Invitational

 

The West Los Angeles College Men's Cross Country team began its 2018 season in fine fashion, as they ran to a 3rd place finish at Ventura College Invitational.  The Wildcats were led by sophomores Baltazar Bucup and Armando Lozano, who placed 3rd and 10th respectively;  in the 4-mile race at Arroyo Verde Park.  Raul Lopez finished 17th, Max Jordan followed for 28th place, and Nathan Torres rounded out the scoring in 39th place for West LA.

As a team the Wildcats took home the 3rd place hardware by placing 3rd place with 89 points. 2017 State runner-up, Riverside City won the team title with 41 points, followed by Oxnard College.  West LA beat 8 teams in their conference including local rivals Santa Monica and Canyons.  

The Cross country team travels to Oceanside next Friday for the Palomar Invitational at Guajome Park.
This was only the second time in the meet's 10 year history that a team swept the top 5 places with a perfect score of 15 points.
