WHITTIER, CA. — West Los Angeles College faced Rio Hondo in a thrilling road matchup on Saturday, Jan. 6, in Whittier, CA.
Despite strong performances from Andrea Hinton, Isabel Ferguson Aliyah Young, Kennedee Rankin, and Bahiyjaui Allen,
the Wildcats fell just short, losing 77-73 in a hard-fought game.

Andrea Hinton set the pace early for the Wildcats, scoring a jump shot at 9:16 in the first quarter to open the game.
Moments later, she capitalized on a steal with a layup at 8:40, giving West LA a 4-0 lead.Hinton's three-pointer at 7:41 extended the Wildcats' lead to 7-0. She finished with a game-high 22 points, shooting 9-of-15 from the field, including three three-pointers.

Aliyah Young was relentless on both ends of the court, contributing 20 points, six steals, and five rebounds.
Young nailed a three-pointer at 5:54 in the third quarter, closing the gap as the Wildcats battled to stay in the game. Her defensive pressure led to several fast-break opportunities and key assists.

Kennedee Rankin controlled the boards, notching a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Rankin was a force inside, scoring a critical layup at 7:16 in the third quarter off an assist from Alana Young to energize her team. Her offensive rebounding was pivotal in keeping possessions alive.

Isabel Ferguson added 7 points, including a layup at 6:17 in the first quarter that
capped a 13-0 opening run for the Wildcats. Ferguson also played a key defensive
role, grabbing three rebounds and blocking a shot.

Off the bench, Bahiyjaui Allen made an impact in her 15 minutes, leading all reserves
with 8 points and 4 rebounds. Allen's six free throws kept West LA within striking
distance late in the game.

West LA shot 45.5% (25-55) from the field and 31.6% (6-19) from three-point range.
The Wildcats converted 65.4% (17-26) of their free throws opportunities and finished with 32 rebounds,
14 assists, and 18 steals.
