The women's soccer team earned their first conference win at home on Tuesday against the Glendale Community College Vaqueros. |
Strong defensive play by the Wildcats' back line gave West a chance to get their offense rolling. An assist by Guadalupe Alonso to Shelsin Chavez put West on the board first. After a penalty shot by Glendale, the game entered the second half tied at one. The offensive opportunities continued for West in the second half, with Kaitlyn McDowell working for a loose ball against two defenders in the 6-yard box and slipping a goal just past the keeper. The momentum continued with Jaylene Navarro serving a chip from midfield to the left side, and Otilia Trejo finishing the service with a left footed goal across the net.

With an improved defensive performance and ability to incorporate multiple players during possession, the Wildcats will look to add a second conference win to their record at home this Friday, 11/2, against LA Valley.
