Roger Hill begins his first season as head coach of the West Los Angeles College baseball team in 2022. He takes over the program after having served as an assistant coach with the Wildcats since 2014.

After graduating from Hollywood High School, he played baseball for two seasons at West Los Angeles College under Coach Artie Harris. Hill was named the Western State Conference Player of the Year, Southern California Player of the Year, and California State Community College Co-Player of the Year. He also received the Big Stick Award which goes to the top hitter in California community college baseball.

He received a baseball scholarship to the University of Nebraska where he played under Coach John Sanders for two seasons and twice earned first-team All-Big 8 Conference honors.

Hill was drafted in the 14th round by the Seattle Mariners in 1982. He played for five professional seasons in the minor leagues, including four with Seattle Mariners and one with the Cleveland Indians, before suffering a career-ending shoulder injury. He played at every minor league level from the Rookie League to Triple-A. Hill went into coaching and managed for three seasons in the Cleveland Indians' minor league system.

Locally, he has been an assistant coach at Washington High School and Compton Community College. He was also a manager, coach, and served on the Board of Directors at Ladera Little League from 2005-2011.

This past summer of 2021, Hill served as a hitting coach in the Appalachian League, a new collegiate league for top freshman and sophomores across the country, which is sponsored by USA Baseball and Major League Baseball. 

Hill received his AA degree from West Los Angeles College before earning his BS degree in computer science in 1996. He had worked as a computer analyst for the Los Angeles City Fire Department until he retired in 2020.

Roger has three young adult kids --- Roger II, Paige, Aaron, and a grandson Ishmael Campos.
